Sorry I haven't been around in a while, it has been a rough few months for me. First a family vacation to Florida to see my father ended up being an extended stay for me because his situation was rapidly deteriorating. So, luckily I can work pretty much anywhere I can access woods, a post office, and a place to charge batteries. I ended up staying another 7 weeks by myself and working in the south Florida swamps for a while. The internet connection at the hotel I was staying at sucked and between spending time with my dad and working on projects I didn't have a lot of spare time on my hands anyway. After that I had to leave Florida earlier than I wanted to because of a situation my oldest daughter had run into. So when I got home I had my hands full with that, trying to play catch up on yard work because after being gone for two months my yard looked like a jungle clearing following a series of monsoons. Plus trying to catch up financially after all of the expenses of the long trip to Florida, plus catch up on family time with my wife and my youngest as well. Then two weeks ago my father passed away and that was a harder lick for me than I expected. Then for the last eight days I've been dealing with one hell of a round of the flu that has me in a weakened state. Hopefully things will level off now and I can get back to participating here more.

As an aside...the friend who has the original Bushfinger is relocating to work in a much more harsh environment for a few years. We have just entered negotiations for me to trade him some equipment better suited to that environment and in return I'll get the original Bushfinger back :)

Hi MW,

I would like to offer my condolences. I have prayed for you and your family and your father. It sounds like you have had a real go of things lately and it is my hope that the sun starts to return and rids those cloudy skies.

Sincerely,
Mark

Really sorry to hear about the hard time you're having, mistwalker, and my sincere condolences for your Father's passing. No matter how prepared we think we might be life always has a way of hitting you where you didn't expect it...I hope you feel better soon and that you land on your feet. Keep your head up and keep on trying :)

That is really cool news about the Bushfinger: I think I remember reading you say that you felt it might come back your way some day, and that you wouldn't be sad if it did...so the circle closes and it's a happy return!

I wish you all the best and look forward to reading your posts in the future. I don't think I'm alone in claiming that I find your writing and contributions informative and enjoyable.

Cheers and best wishes,

Sean

Considering we hadn't been close since I was thirteen years old his passing hit me a lot harder than I expected it to. I guess it was all the time spent talking the last couple of months saying things that had needed to be said for a long time. It was often like drifting back in time to younger days.

Oh yeah, I had told Jimmy if he ever wanted to part with it that I wanted first chance. He didn't mention parting with it this time anyway, I just knew he'd be needing some more specialized gear where he is going and thought I'd offer the trade and see what happened. I was glad he was willing to negotiate because while I had no problems with him having the knife, I will definitely not be sad to have it back :)

I'm glad to hear you are back though. You gotta try the new Kepahrt.

Mystwalker, my condolences!

Would love to see pictures of the first Bushfinger after you get it back.

Sorry to here things have been so rough, I hope they get better now. Glad to have you back, I always enjoy your posts, and congrats on the Bushfinger, I guess it just wants to find it's way home!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, my friend. On a good note, I saw your recent article in TK magazine...good stuff!

Thanks man, I hope so too. Still feeling like crap at the moment, may be needing to go to the doctor tomorrow if something doesn't give. I'm excited to be seeing it again too, it's been several months since I last visited with it.
