Horizontal carry help

Hey guys I'm trying to make a kydex sheath for this mini cleaver I just finished and I'm having two problems. First it the blade shape sync the nose of the spine is taller than the rest I made a little wood block do the blade wouldn't get stuck in there. But that made the knife have room to wobble around. I was thinking maybe if I I cut along the spine part of the kydex let it form to the blade maybe I can use it for retention? Also I want to carry it horizontally but I don't wear a belt so I tried these clips but they swivel around when I try to draw the knife. Any suggestions would be awesome.

I ran into a similar problem before. What i did was with the knife in the sheath slightly heat the spine part on the stove. When it turns soft the spine will kind of open up. Use a pair of pliers to pinch the spine part together so it conforms to the knife better. Hope this makes sense

Id make a sheath which would allow me to hook onto the belt loops instead.

Ive seen a few nifty solution of that design here on the forum.

If you want Kydex instead of leather, you can combine the Kydex sheath with leather (or other material) loops for example via screws or rivets, push buttons etc.

With all due respect, beautiful sheath, however, I prefer function over form.
That's a reach around sheath.
Advertising you have a blade, unless it's a 110 inverted, just leads to problems.
I EDC'd a Schrade Sharpfinger for years; that got attention, as most fixed blades do.
As does any large folding on a belt.

At a campsite, what's the point?
Strap on a Kabar, Big Old Timer that announces it's presence.

Beautiful leatherwork, though.

Kudos.

On the wobbling, you should make your spacer only the thickness of the blade. That way the Kydex is still against the back of the handle, but still lets the blade through. Since the sheath is already made, I'd go ahead and do the spacer, stick the whole thing in the sheath, and adjust with a heat gun so the Kydex is hitting the outside of the back of the handle on the outer part if that makes sense.

On the clips, you could make a couple simple "J-Hooks" (just a couple pieces of narrow Kydex bent into "J" shapes with a hole for your posts on the flat end). Bend 'em a bit inward towards the center so they have tension and use washers on the posts with the hooks facing the sheath. May have to play with the length to catch. Not the most secure setup in the world, but would probably be a good deal better than the ones you're using for what you wanna do. Pretty sure you can buy something similar if you don't wanna fiddle that much.
