We have kicked this around a few times, but don't really know if we have actully said whether or not we actully carry any of the folders horizontal.

When I carry the Alpha 277 or 279 I carry them horizontal. I use the leather sheath stamped 276 , and the cordura one that came on the 279, depending on what I am doing. If I know I am going to be really muddy and dirty, I use the codura and when I get home I just toss it in the washing machine with a load of jeans.

I use a codura v/h sheath for a 110 or 560 since I don't have a horizontal leather for a 110.

Just curious as to how many are carrying horizontal ?

My main reason for horizontal carry is that the knife is out of the way when getting in and out or the truck or car.

I usually carry a Buck Mayo Hilo. When I carry my 110's I carry horizontal also. Heavy cordura sheath also. All my leather sheaths are NIB! Sometimes carry my 110 horizontal in a 279 cordura sheath works well! Easier to remove than 110 sheath.

I carry a BG42 560 in a H/V cordura sheath, its comfortable but a tad awkward to remove since I added a one armed bandit. What I really like is that its not noticable when driving. Also, I don't carry it a lot but I have a horizontal leather cell phone case thats a great fit for my 446 Goliath, I got that case for $.50 in the bargain bin at the local cell dealer.

I horizontal carry my Buck 110 Alaskan. I find it to be more comfortable. I use the cordura 276 sheath.

When I carry a Buck, it's my 110 Alaskan G also. Since I have stuff all over my "bat belt" on the sides as far backward as I can reach, it goes in the front. Horizontal is the way to go there, in nylon sheath that comes with some of the standard 110s.

Having it to the right of my belt buckle also makes it accessible with either hand.

How come you guys use the 276 or 279 sheaths for the 110? Do they fit better or something? Buck has both a leather and cordura pouch for the 110 on their website, so I'm a little confuzzled.

A friend of my caries an older Sebenza in a sunglass type sheath horizontally. That would be neat for a 110 .Where the top opens up .

Gibson,
sheath just is a little bit looser. not so hard to get in and out when in tight spaces! Also can do it one handed easier. Cordura sheath washes off easier and carries horizontal. I wouldnt say they fit better though!

Didn't notice when I first got it, but the 889LE sheath can be carried horizontal. Love it. Leather instead of genuine Corinthian cordura.
Here's a pic of one on the belt and the back of another so you can see the construction.

The cell phone case is a good idea I had not thought of it, I may try a few different knives and see how it turns out.
