I am sure many of you have already thought of this :D but I have not seen it posted, so I thought I would share -

I have one of Rob Frink's horizontal grinders - which are very cool in and of themselves. I have a variable speed motor on it, which is (IMHO) a necessity.

anyway, it occurred to me that I could put a disc on the motor shaft (removing the drive wheel for the grinder), so I emailed Rob with some questions.

Of course, he replied quickly as always, and told me he thought it would work. He also offered to bore out one of his 9" discs to a 7/8" ( to fit my motor) AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.

got the disc, installed it, and it works GREAT. Easy to change over as well.

Makes an already great product even better...and you cannot beat Rob's customer service :D

Without Pictures it didnt happen.
Sounds like a good idea. I've lusted for one of Rob horizontal grinders for years now.

oh, sure, now you want me to display my poor photography skills??

I will try to get a few pics done in the next few days :p

the whole scenario worked out well for me, since I had the VS motor sitting around from something else, but it had a 7/8 shaft, which I guess is a bit bigger than usual. Rob bored out the drive wheel for the Horiz attachment too......

and then one day as I had something to flatten, and was thinking "wish I had a disc grinder".......and then it hit me
