A scout carry is probably the easiest. They are actually a great sheath for a new maker imo.

Google images for scout carry sheath.

Thanks for your input I have a bunch of questions to be answered if I can figure out how to add photos ill add them so you pros can help a newbie before I gather bad habits.

I think at your membership level you'll need to register an account at imgur or photobucket to post pics. I think.

Whenever you're ready ask away. I'll help as much as I can.

I make several of that style and several that ride angled, not quite horizontal. We'd all be glad to help what questions do you have?

Thanks Dave im looking for pics or ideas as to how the belt loop would be sewn on. I am sewing the loop on separate because I think it looks neater. not sure if anyone has stitched a loop for verticle hang and angle in the same loop. I wish I could figure out how to put some photos here of what I have made. Also I was told that shoe polish does an awesome job of protecting and adding shine to the leather, guess it works on shoes . Was I misled ?

If you cannot get imgur or photobucket to work, you can send me your pics by email and I'll post them.

I think this is a very good question in regards to the different options of belt loop design and construction.
The belt loop on any sheath is one of , if not the most important part of the sheath , yet it is often a secondary thought of the design process .
How the sheath rides on the belt has a huge influence on the sheaths performance .
If the sheath is positioned or orientated where it is uncomfortable or interferes with access to pockets or normal daily activity like riding in vehicles or just sitting in a chair then it has failed in its primary mission .
I have tried many different loop designs and still haven't found the perfect specimen .
I'm interested in knowing others thoughts and observations on loop design , angle , and position on belt .
I know the knifes shape and size and intended role in life has a big influence , but I'd love to hear what designs are the pro's favourites .
