I have a Kumar Karda with a nicely engraved horn handle (by Amtrack). The blade has taken a nice edge, and it is thick and strong. The blade looks like it could handle some heavy kitchen work....like splitting lobster tails, or similar tasks.
Is the handle likely to hold up? I ask, because of the carving. If the horn is thin, and it has grooves in it, I wondered if this would compromise the strength of the grip. I like the knife and do not want to "butcher" it. It has the sort of shape that would make it useful for heavy cutting in the kitchen, but not if this will ruin it. It looks too good for that.
Has anyone used one of these knives?
