Horn treatment

I like Hooflex. I bought a thing of it back in 2003 at the feed store across the street from work. I think I have 3/4 of a container left;)
 
Since this is a major component in Hooflex, couldn't I just use that?
I already have some for my leather equipment.
 
I've just started with horn handled blades and I'm using a lanolin based non acid/dieselene or kerosene product by inox called Lanox.
