Horrible disappointment!

This has not been a good day. Today I received a knife that I had been excitedly anticipating for some time now. At least I thought that was the case. I eagerly opened the box and found to my utter dismay that it was not the knife I had ordered.

I have emailed the maker to see if he has an explanation for what might have happened. He is not very quick at replying to emails sometimes, so if he has not gotten back to me by tomorrow I am going to call.

What a bummer. I have never had anything like this happen before.

I am sure that everything will work out fine as I have every confidence this maker will get things straightened out. It is going to be a hassle though, having to send this knife back and wait for the other one to arrive.

Thanks for listening to my whining. I just needed to vent.

that has always been one of my greatest fears, after packing 4 or 5 knives, and then wondering if I put the right names on the right box!!

I wonder if he just got orders mixed up? Imagine the look on the other guy's face when he opens his box.
I hate it when that happens...

Hope this gets straightened out quickly for ya!

I once got a knife from a forumite that was in the chat room...he was not the maker, just one from his collection. He also has some storage pouches he was sending to somebody else. When the box arrived I thought wow, this sure is a lite knife. When I opened it, I was surprised to see some storage pouches and nothing else. The other guy was surprised to see a nice shiny Meerdink neck knife :) All was fixed quickly and was kind of funny.

Everytime I ship two boxes the same day I have a sinking feeling. Only
screwed up once, but was able to catch the mail before it left the PO.
The clerk still remembers me.LOL

I was awakened this morning at 6:08 by a very apologetic maker. We are now working on getting this straightened out. Now that I am awake I am going to call him back. I don't think I was too coherent when we talked this morning.

I totally understand that mistakes can happen. Knowing this maker as I do, I have no doubt that things will be made right. I will keep you guys informed.

Ouch... that would hurt expecting one thing and getting another. Glad to hear it's all going to be good soon!

Been there done that. My latest cluster copulation was sending two of the same thing a week apart to the same guy.

...but can you imagine the look on the face of the guy who opened Keith's knife :D

That's the way I look at it. Heck, I've certainly made my share, so how can I be too critical of someone else.

It seems that the error was not that the wrong knife was put in the box, but that the wrong knife was made. The maker had two customers with the name Keith and wrote down the other persons order under my name. Lol. One good thing about this is that I am going to get a nice extra done to the knife as kind of an olive branch.

Anyway, its all been worked out except figuring out how to get the right knife up to me without having to pay taxes and brokerage fees again. I am going to contact Canada Customs tomorrow and see if there is a way to get my knife without having to pay again.

I once shipped two knives to a guy who did not even order them (he was a former customer of mine). I did not notice the mistake till the guy who was supposed to get them sent me an e-mail trying to find out what happened. So I called tghe first guy and he sold the knives already!! It took me almost 3 months to get at least some money back :(.

I'd love to pick it up at blade Danbo, but being that it costs so much to go, I always end up having to decide if I want to go to Blade or buy knives that year. Buying knives always wins out.
