I've read a few threads on sticky Benchmade locks. I got a Benchmade 707 Sequel recently--and the lock was sticky and the blade wouldn't flip open or closed. For about 5 minutes.
After a few dozen openings and closings, the mechanism is beginning to smooth out very nicely. I can now easily flip it open and closed. It feels great, and works great.
It's my only non-mini-Grip Benchmade, and I really like it. Thinner and a bit more "gentlemanly" than the Mini-Grip. I expect it to be just as smooth as the mini-Grips I've been carrying for a while. The aluminum/G10 grips feel great.
In short: Give the Axis lock a little time. Just a little bit.
