I got a new Emerson Horseman and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. For me this was one of those knives that I instantly knew was gonna be one of my favorites. The Para2 was the exact same way. I cleaned out the copper looking lube. I lightly sanded the scales to make them a little smoother. It wasn't as heavy as I was expecting either. I was a little disappointed with the CQC7 as my first Emerson, but decided I give them another go with this Horseman. I'm super glad I did. I really like my CQC-8. The entire series really does have nice ergonomics.

The only thing that keeps me from owning one is the pocket clip. It seems like you would have a lot of knife hanging out of your pocket.

Yeah, the clip does show a little more knife then I would like. But it is very secure while clipped. I forgot to mention that my lock does stick a little. A little graphite help for a while, but it eventually wears away.

I think the pocket clip positioning is good. A little bit does stick out, but it helps with extraction, and I've never had any problems with the knife almost getting knocked out of my pocket...and I have slick CF scales on mine.

As for the lock stick, I don't know what happened for mine, but it is super smooth. Zero stick. Perfect lockup.

Indeed, it is a great EDC. I love it as much as my para 2.

Another point concerning the clip position, you almost need a little bit of knife to grab onto to use the wave feature correctly.

Yeah, I for one don't understand the fascination with the CQC7... to me the CQC 8 is the crown jewel of the Emerson line

I picked up a Horseman a few weeks ago (my very first Emerson) and I really dig it. I was skeptical at first, but I'm glad I seized the opportunity...

You have to settle for the only one of the 2 that is readily available right. Can't buy somthing that isn't sold.
