Just traded into a Hortonized ASH-1.I am loving the super sharp convex edge.It came with a couple sheaths but I did not really like them so I made a CF sheath.
Trying to decide if I want to send it in for a set of G10 scales.Does anyone know about what the cost is of having this done and if the logo can be put back on.The logo is there but after the stripping and bead blasting it is very faint.

It is a .32
I am amazed at the sharpness level of this knife at its thickness.

Hi All,

Not sure but, ( you would have to ask Busse) I do not think they would put there logo on a modified knife ?

JH is a excellent knife maker and a great friend, but from the way I understand it, that knife has been modded at least the blade portion of it. And if a nice crisp Busse Combat logo was put back on it, it would be as if it were Busse's work.

Somewhere down the line of trading and or selling the fact that it is not Busse's work could get lost or forgotten, then whoever ends up with it will have a knife with no warranty ?

There are several folder makers that have had this problem happen.

Take Emerson for example, people buy a production knife then have a "pimper" make it look like a Emerson custom making it a " Poorboy custom " It goes through a few hands and then gets sold as a custom when it actually is not. This has actually happened and the person thought he was buying a 6 to 1000.00 custom when it was a 200.00 production blade with 100.00 to 200.00 worth of work done to it.

I could see the same thing happen here if the logo was put back on there. Again not saying you would do it, things get lost in the shuffle over the years is all.

my 2 cents

I can understand that.
Also does this knife not have the warranty because it was stripped and sharpened.

If removing the coating and sharpening the knife voids the warranty... I think most of us are screwed. I really think Busse would only worry about mods that might actually cause a failure... (Adding home made serrations, a full regrind, or holes, or maybe even file work). But I can't see bead blasting or sharpening it to a mirror polished edge voiding the warranty.

Awesome edge! I had an older SRKW that Jerry did by hand a few years back that looked like that, it was insanely sharp.

Thanks Jerry.
Not much worried about the warranty.Nice that it is there but I don't think I would ever need it.I have sent a couple folders in for warranty work but never a fixed blade.About the only thing I could think of going wrong would be a scale to crack or the blade to snap in half and the latter is not very likely with this one or any Busse really.

If you find something that can snap that monster... run far away from it.
