I received this knife as a gift from a friend. It is a Jerry Hossom Flat ground Chainsaw. It is the only flat grind Jerry has ever done. It is razor sharp and light weight. The balance is awesome in the hand which makes this knife very quick in the hand. He didn't put his mark on it so it is sterile and will never reproduce. LOL

That's a cool knife and a GREAT gift, wow!

That's very interesting about it being a flat grind, I've sure never seen him do that before.

Did Jerry melt the handle down too, or was that done afterwards? It looks like it would feel real good in hand.

Congrats man, awesome score.

My friend that gave it to me he toned the handle down some himself. Doesn't look like he changed it too much though. It is and probably will be the only flat grind Jerry will ever do. I just need a good kydex sheath for it now. I think a knife like this would be better served with a kydex sheath. Jerry does awesome work! I really want one of his Millennium Bowie's.

Yes, that is the only flat grind I will ever do. Not even sure why I did it, maybe just to see if I could. Wasn't fun IIRC. Glad you like it Mike. In addition to some small changes to the handle, the bigger change was to the blade shape. Keith doesn't like recurves so he removed it. What breaks my heart about that is that keeping the recurved edge even is more difficult with a flat grind. I told him he probably turned a $2000 knife into a curiosity. He laughed. That's Keith, great guy. :)

Thanks for the kind comments.

It still has some Curve in the blade. It debarks and carves dried hickory walking staffs real well. I found that out yesterday. :D

when I first saw this, I thought that knife was a counterfeit. It looks like the guy who made it tried to copy a real Hossom and didn't quite get it. Now it all makes sense.

Boy, am I glad I didn't say anything!;):D

Distant memory but I think that steel is CPM-3V.
Keith said it was S30V but since you are the Man who made this fine knife I will take your word on it.

I was thinking people might think that since it was a flat grind, had some modifications and had no markers mark on it. I can't blame anybody for thinking that though.
