Hi Guys, I just received my Recurve Hunter/Killer,(H/K) from Jerry Hossom a few days ago & I'm still pumped up cause this knife is amazing!

The specs on the knife are: blade 5.5", overall length 11.125" long, steel is 154-CM, heat treat by Paul Bos & the incredible ergonomic handle has some of the most beautiful Ironwood I've ever seen. It's another winner from Jerry Hossom, I.M.H.O.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments on the knife :).

Doug

I think it should be illegal for a knife to look that nice! Jerry, if you are listening and have more of that ironwood, put me down for a similar knife.

If you are asking for personal reactions, I think the knife is beautiful, particularly the handle. I would have preferred a longer blade for function and aesthetically, but it is beautiful as is. Jerry's work is really fine and I'd love to acquire a longer blade with a handle as gorgeous as that.
How does it cut, or are you just going to stare at it for a while longer ? :D

Hi Michael, as far as I know, Jerry is not taking any orders right now.

However, his website www.hossom.com has some great pictures & the e-mail address to contact him at.

I can recommend him wholeheartedly as a great knifemaker & a real fun guy to work with :D .

HJK, I agree with you on the longer bladelength. However, here in Texas the legal limit is 5.5" & I wanted to carry this without any problems. I think it worked out real well as it is. I'll be cutting some stuff as soon as I can quit playing with it :D.

Hart,
You're kidding! In Texas, of all places, you can only carry those itty bitty knives? :)
That's really wierd. Up here in Kanaduh we have no length restriction. But if you cuss in public you pay a tax :D

Thanks for the nice remarks folks. Doug is right, I'm not accepting new orders right now. I'm way too far behind filling the ones I have.

5-1/2" is the smallest of these I've made. Here are a couple in the 7+" range and a crazy variant at 12".

I handled, at Jerry's very generous invitation, every knife he had on his table at Blade. The fit and finish on all was excellent, but the thing that stuck in my mind was the "feel": every knife almost felt like an extension of my hand/arm. HUGE blades that I expected to be weighted towards the blade had incredible balance and almost flew through the air.

Just my $.02 worth,

Michael

PS: He also (rarely) does some really nice small stuff!!!
