Hossom knives

When I saw pictures of the many knives posted here of Hossom knives, I was underwhelmed. They didn't do anything for me at all.
I met Mr. Hossom at the Blade show and I asked if I might pick up one of the knives. Mr Hossom said "pick one up, you can't see balance in a picture." I was won over immediatly. The balance of these knives is superb. They are light in weight, and the fit and finish is outstanding.
I especially like a knife called the "Revenge" It has an 8 1/2" blade of S30V, I believe. As soon as I can get the cash together,I will place my order.
BTW, Mr. Hossom is a very pleasant gentleman to speak with.
 
He is a really fine guy that makes awesome blades! You won't find anyone more hospitable and helpful. I dare say that you would be hard pressed to find a more well balanced "big" knife than the ones he does.
 
Jerry is a friend, but it has been my experience that the balance of his knives is up there with the best in the art. Those big ones especially have a life of their own once you pick one up.

Great fit and finish and a superb edge finish off every knife of his that I have seen.

To me the cool thing about Jerry as a knife-maker is that he is pretty flexable (tell him how you will be using the knife and you get what you need) and that he is never satisfied so he continues to experiment and out do him self.
 
I have to agree with everyone.I met Jerry several years ago at our FKA show and was totally impressed with his knives and his kind nature.While smoking cigs out in the cooridor he gave me many tips and made me feel at ease as it was my first show.The evolution of his blades is neverending,and I don't know many makers that can achieve the balance he gets in his big blades.I can only hope to get near that good.Dave:)
 
Not only is Jerry an extremely talented knifemaker he is a real stand-up kind of guy!!

They dont call him "Awesome Hossom" for nothing! Jerry's knives are some of the coolest blades around. I never did find out who won that little fighter bowie contest at the Blade show, but my vote would have gone for Jerry's. Not that the others were not cool, I just liked the style of the Hossom.
 
Repeating what others have said... no one makes a balanced fighting knife like Jerry, IMHO. I've got a 13" bladed Millenium Bowie that he made for me that is simply mythic in it's handling and performance. It's not a 4x4 chopper, and it wasn't designed to be, but I'd wager a fair sum that it would effortlessly take your arm off above the elbow before you'd realized I'd moved it. ;)

I've never handled another knife like Jerry's that cuts so well, weighs so little for such a large knife, and is so well balanced. The fit and finish are superb.

Now, top all this off ladies and gents with the fact that Jerry is truly one of the most honorable and personable people with which I've done business. From a creative standpoint, he's not afraid to experiment and push the envelop either.

Yep, I'd say Jerry's got his niche of the knife world pretty damn well covered. :D
 
Jerry is a very lucky man. I happened to be blessed with some of the most wonderful customers and encouraging friends I can imagine. The joy and motivation I derive from your friendships is what gets me going each day, making me want to try just a little harder next time. I simply cannot thank you enough for helping me along my way.

Jerry is da man! He is on another plane... His stuff gives me a headache just thinking about the difficulty.... No wonder Hossom Rhymes with Awesome....
 
I haven't had the honour yet of even holding in my hands one of Jerry's knives but I am sure I will in future. From pictures alone, I am already impressed.

But Jerry is right, pictures alone are not enough. One has got to touch it and swing it a little.

Indeed Jerry is a good man. His knives are a great testimony of his character.
 
Jerry is truly a great guy, and even his largest knives are deceptively light in the hand... but have any of you ever tasted his fried turkey??!!!!

This is where his art really shines through...:)

Hossom's knives rock, you cant believe the balance and live feel of his blades until you pick one up. :eek:
 
Jerry has some of the coolest fighters around. I really like some of his blade designs and definately has a look all his own. Gonna have to add a couple to my collection some day.
