Need further proof that Jerry Hossom is a great knifemaker? Lookie here. I sent Jerry a piece of S30V and some ironwood and a sketch. Told him my proposed uses and this is what he makes up for me. Overall length is 6-7/8" with a 2-7/8" blade. I should be able to carry this around without the sheeple getting too nervous.

I am a happy camper.

Thats real sweet.....Jerry's knives are very nice. I have held a few and the attention to detail/balance is perfect. So, I ended up ordering a Revenge model months ago and can't wait to get it.

Enjoy it.

SWEET! I'm liking the design and choice of wood! Jerry does craft a very, very fine blade!
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Fabulous.

Did Jerry run out of steel and wood, is that why he isn't taking any more orders? ;)

Can I ask Jerry to make one for me?

Beautiful, ergonomic, and utilitarian. What could you ask for from a knife, or a tool, or a ..... WHOA! Better stop right there!

Danbo,
Are you sure Jerry made that? The other 20 inches of the blade seem to be missing. ;) :D

It's a beautiful blade. Congrats. :) :)

Man, that is awesome!!!! Must not covet another man's knife...Must not covet another man's knife...Must not covent another man's knife...
:D

That is another man's wife. When it comes to another man's knife, covet away man. I want it!;)

ROTFLMAO.... You guys are killing me....

And yes- Jerry makes some of the best knives for the money out there...hard to think of anyone that makes better fighters... for any price that is...

After a few private coments on why this thread has not been moved. I thought I would offer my opinion.

The original poster posted a picture and had some background on the knife that provided some thought for discussion. (I.E. providing materials for a knife you want made) Looks like we had some fun with it too.

That type of interaction is a lot different from posting a pic with little or no verbiage. Folks, I like looking at the pictures too. Pictures with background provide an open door for discussion rather than the oooh and ahhs that result from a picture alone. (I like to oooh and ahh at the knives in Gallery too, but lets face it we do not learn as much from the ooohs and ahhs as we do from a discussion).

I hope this explaination helps clear some of the air. If there is something I can help with, please feel free to contact me. I learn here every day and will listen to what is conveyed to me. I try hard not to show favoritism (although I do not put up with too much from folks who constantly abuse this place (and other venues) and flaunt the desires of the owner) but my opinions can only be based on my experience and they are no better than the opinions of others.

Jerry has done more to stimulate and expand my sense of what is possible, what is wonderful, and what is fantastic about the beauty and function of knives than any other maker I know. It's not just his exquisite sense of the art of the blade, and it's not just his superbly practiced eye for precision of function, though he has dedicated himself to developing both those talents fully.

In my mind, the extra thing he brings to the table is the ability to deeply engage others with his art--both by fearlessly letting his own imagination soar and following it to new heights, and also by giving life to designs born in the dreams of others. In both cases, he has the courage to take a chance.

In following his own imagination, he has the courage to share with us those strivings that may well fail--he is not fazed. The payoff is original and beautiful edged art that often captures what is unique AND universal in our appreciation of blades--maybe not for everyone, every time, but exactly right to touch the hearts of some--or one.

In the case of others who seek him out with their thoughts about design, he not only is accepting of those ideas, but engages and melds his own graceful sense with them to give back a living blade they could never have hoped to build for themselves--and most often a much better and more beautiful blade than they had envisioned. That is an amazing gift, and I have had the good fortune to experience it.

Thanks for all of that, Jerry. And thanks to this forum for giving me a chance to say it.

-Will

Dan I'm glad you like your knife, and I hope it serves you well.

My sincere thanks to everyone who's posted here. Will, I am completely humbled by your kind remarks. Thank you my friend. Having customers who view our interactions as more than a transaction makes doing what I do more meaningful than just a business. The great thing about this knife world is that there is no perfect knife and never will be; perfection lies in the relationships we build while trying to create one. Thanks.

Well said Jerry! That too is the reason why many of us enjoy owning customs . . . not SIMPLY because of the quality, but the maker we think of when we use them! (Like my Bird and Trout!!):D :D :D

For some reason I've got a bit of a "bug" for a new knife. Wow, that little one is nice!

I keep looking for someone's standard model -- that's how I found this thread, looking for Hossom Hunter-Killer pictures.

Might just have to draw something up and talk to a custom maker.

Mike
