Gah, I want that kat so bad. I was just marveling at my Bura-made one last night, and was like, "You know, I could use another one of these."

Ah, well there will be others:)

Thumbs up to that Ganga Ram. A good weight for the length. I was getting excited about sharking it, then realized I already have one like it.

Nice price for a hand made sword. Has anyone used any of the HI swords and posted any reviews? I wonder how sharp they are. I'm assuming they are 5160 (spring steel) like the knives which is actually very good for a sword.

I have handled about 10 HI swords over the years, and all of them have been exquisite battle-ready pieces. The steel is perfectly suited for war, and what they lack in what a traditionalist might deem grace, they more than make up for in being tough as nails. I'd love to have more of them in my collection if I could justify it:p

Thank you for saving me from myself:P
We're trying to get our house ready to sell and have a few projects. I've been told if it cuts or goes BOOM, I better not bring it home.

If you end up not wanting it then I will pick it up. Steely Gunz convinced me too.

A no nonsense, tough, usable sword would be a great addition. That Gladius that was posted a few weeks back was awesome too.

I haven't heard anything yet, which probably means it's spoken for. Auntie usually gets back quickly. I've always wanted one, just was hesitant... If Steely says there tough as nails , then that's all I needed to hear... If it's not me, then good luck, and good score to whoever got it...

We had a forum friend SamuraiDave (I'm like 99% sure it was Dave. This was years and years ago) chop up a COUCH with his kat without much more damage than a loose guard. I think someone even took on of these things to a free hanging cow spine with little damage. HI swords can take as much abuse as one should expect a sword to take (ie don't chop trees with it, etc).

A while back I was thinking about getting into swords but there are so many good makers out there, (Albion, arms and armor, CS, etc...) my head was spinning on what I really wanted. These seem reasonable, look good, and (judging by the other products that I've received from Himalayan Imports) are more than likely up to any task a sword should be used for. I still haven't heard anything so its doubtful I got it anyways. I'll just wait till they come around gain. No hurry. Thanks for the info and opinion Steely...

I highly recommend having at least one sword. Not only was it traditional for many tribes of man across the world, but maintaining a sword feels so much more... involved than maintaining a knife.

Not trying to steer you towards or away from an HI sword, but I think your first sword should be something you strongly identify with. Something you'll want to sharpen, clean, polish, and otherwise take care of even if it doesn't need it.
