This knife was built as remembrance, to pass down in our family. Our high speed spindle was used to etch the pine tree and rising sun. The other side gives the dates I trained in the martial arts. 1992 to 2009. The only things left from that era are my belts and injuries :)

The blade is hot blued damascus with a curly koa handle; mild steel was hot blued and used as the etching base. The knife is 9 inches OAL.

Several people contacted me saying they could see no picture. Here is another photo different run. Lets see what happens. The original photo is viewed on my server don't know if it might be a format issue.

I can see the pic, but some folks can't. OK, the same thing happened to me the other day.
I see that you are hotlinking that pic from Google photos or Albums. So was I when I encountered this problem.
Some folks were able to see my pics when trying another browser. I'm using Chrome, and it works for me to see the pic, perhaps because it's from a Google site.
I was not able to fix my problem as long as I hotlinked the pics from Google photos. I had to upload to Photobucket and edit my thread with image hotlinks from there. That fixed it, people could see the pics.
Never had that problem before....

Thanks Salem. I was on that thread and could view the photos. I run Chrome with Picasa which is a Google program. I'll try it through another browser.

Very nice Heirloom mr. Rowe. As a side question, what kind of Martial Arts did you practise?

I trained in the Shuri style under Paul Scoles for 6 years. After 6 years with Master Scoles I spent a couple of years in Doh Chen Kung-fu which rounded the edges of the Karate a bit. Shuri is a very aggressive style and the control and project focus of the Chinese Art gave me a more rounded system.

We had a dojo in the basement of our home that was opened to local kids. We are very rural in this area and there is little for the young ones to do. The dojo operated for 12 years and graduated 10 black belts in that time. Ten of the eleven original students went on to make black belt. We had many come and go in those years but 10 of the first class stayed for the long haul. The pic below is of the early members and then after the years of training as black belts.

This picture always makes me smile. As the kids grew to adults I kept getting older and shrinking in size. There is nothing more humbling than working with the young.
What I accomplished was nothing, what the class accomplished was amazing.

I think I know what the "photo problem" is. I looked up the page info/media and saw that Mr. Rowe is using GoogleUserContent.com for his photos. I generally use Firefox (which doesn't even show a marker for the photos), and found that I could not open the photo, even with the address. I tried Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge, and saw only X's where the photos should be. When I looked in Chrome, all of the photos appear where they are supposed to be. So there must be an incompatibility (possibly intentionally) with non-Chrome web browsers.

Mr. Rowe, that's a nice knife by the way.
