Here is my newest. Its a step away from the fancy burls I had been working with, and feels much more "classy" than the other pieces I have done. It has a really nice heft and feels great in the hand. It is ultra sharp. I can shave ink off a single sheet of paper without cutting through. The hamon, gidgee and bolsters are so hard to take pictures of, and I am still working on getting a nice picture so bear with me....The gidgee is like cat's eye...it moves all over the place as the light changes....its almost creepy.

Specs:
8.75" OAL
4.5" Blade
1095 Steel, differentially hardened
Ringed Gidgee
Mosaic pin
Double nickel silver bolsters

Im working on the final finish, playing with satin bolsters or true mirror...

I have used ringde gidgee. It looks more 3 d than you pick shows but I can imagine it. It is a shame the other guys can't see just how good it looks.

Nice effort.

Yeah the Gidgee really is a weird wood and does have strange 3d characteristics that i had a lot of trouble photographing. Similar to figured sapele, it has stripes that reflect at all different angles, making it almost look liquid. I may try gettign up to a much higher grit and sealing the grain with tung oil or superglue to see if i can get a glasslike surface to increase that...

Ill be finishing this one off and then selling it. Its too nice to keep. I don't know why, but its also the sharpest thing I have made. I can literally fillet a sheet of regular computer paper. Somewhat scary....its a little less angle than standard, with about a 20 degree edge bevel.

This one is now up on ebay for sale and will be in the for sale section here if no one snatches it this first round...Hard to let it go but I can no longer afford to own my own knives, haha.
