I have a hatamoto and the blade has a little play so I tightened up the blade a little, now it sounds like it is rubbing. I loosened it and still have the same problem. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this

Welcome to Bladeforums Shelton0791.

Can you tell what parts are rubbing to make the sound? Have you oiled the pivot?

It could just be the pivot is dry and needs some lubrication. I'm partial to "Quick Release" oil, but most people have their own preferences.

Also, I notice that knife is a liner lock. I've noticed that sometimes the ball detent in the lock dragging on the side of the blade during rotation can produce a noise. A tiny amount of lube in the detent path can smooth that out.

You don't have to take the knife apart to lube the pivot, just loosen it, drop a small drop of oil down each side of the pivot, then work the blade back and forth as if you were opening and closing it, then tighten the pivot as desired. After doing this I would also recommend wiping off the contact surface of the blade tang where it contacts the lock to remove any oil there (a q-tip works well for this).
