I stay in Atlanta at least once a month, usually on business, so I thought that those of you who are not familier with the city may be interested in my take on accomodations for the Blade Show.
I know that the Renaissance Waverly Hotel has rooms, but no disrespect intended, I don't pay the prices they're asking ($154/night). For Blade I'll be at the Hyatt Regency (downtown) for $60/night. I can drive the 15 minutes it takes to get to the show.
Atlanta, like most major cities, is full of hotels with vacancies. If you shop around (Priceline, Hotels.com, Hotwire, etc) you'll find some real deals. In Atlanta I prefer to stay Downtown, or Buckhead, or by the airport. I stay in 4 star hotels and in the past two years have never paid more than $70/night. (Not just in Atlanta, across the country.) I especially like the "Name your own fare" option. You may not know exactly which hotel you're going to get, but if you build the search right you can usually get the choices down to 2-3.
You do need to watch the add on's, especially parking, as that can be upwards of $20/night. The Downtown hotels all charge for this as there is no self parking for most of them.
Atlanta is not a hard town to get around in. If you truly don't like city driving okay, but if you've got a GPS using it can save you some cash.
One thing I will warn you about; leave nothing in your vehicle. You can suffer a break in even in the best neighborhoods. Theives especially like GPS and computer cases, briefcases, and anything that looks expensive. Even parking facilities with guards and cameras get hit.
So, my recommendation; Shop around. Drive a little and save some money. Use that money to get a new knife. Because that's why we go to Blade.
