hotmail?

a friend of mine is trying to sign up for a membership but was told that she could not do so with a hotmail based email address?? why is this so? are there any other free email providers that are allowed here on bladeforums?

There are thousands and all of them except Hotmail are welcome. If your friend doesn't have a preference I'll suggest www.yahoo.com

Hotmail (owned by Microsoft) is notoriously uncooperative in dealing with abusers, and as a result they're banned from a great deal of the net. Sorry about that -- but they are the only email provider that's banned here.

At times in the past we've allowed people to register with a Hotmail address, and you can go on using it if you want. You might want to change to another provider for more reliable service, though. Hotmail is also notorious for screwing up and losing your mail.

alright, but i think i'll keep my hotmail address as it is used for everything i have, not just this forum and it would be too much trouble for me to change everything. thanks for all your help Mr. Allen
