Ok, I love the blade and over all look of the Chinook!!!,but I hate a
knife that is so heavy it pulls your pants down! So Sal,how about a Zytel Chinook? and while I'm at it a Zytel Police would be nice also!:D
Love Them Spydies!!....Todd

The thing is it wouldn't be a Chinook anymore, just a endura with a cool blade. The heft is what makes the Chinook an individual.

If the Chinook was Zytel, it would be way too blade heavy. Not only this, but you would sacrifice its lock strength. A zytel handle certainly could not take the pressure that a g-10 handle can. I just don't see it working: you'd be taking a hard-use knife and making it weaker and front-heavier.

My thoughts exactly.
The risk of having an excessively front heavy or blade heavy knife cannot be over-emphasized.

The Chinook is not too heavy for me. It is as it should be for its intended purposes--built heavy for heavy chores. :)

Good points guys!! I just can't get use to carring a real heavy knife! I just got my Gunting this mornig and I already have my doubts if I 'll carry it as a EDC:( Its while thought out design but even in jeans I've been tring for the past few hours to find a way to carry it that doesn't bug the crap out of me!!
Thanks for the imput Guys!!......Todd

It discusses the question of weight and what I believe to be the best answer to that question. Not only does IWB provide greater comfort, it gives greater security and, if you are wearing a belt, lower observability.

Hi Todd. It seems that in the vast varieties of people, there is also vast varieties in preferences. Size, strength, weight, eye candy all make for the many designs available. Spyderco tries to meet these market preferences in many ways. For Big & Light, The Military has its offerings.

I too got a Gunting today and love the heft, feels like a little tank. This knife will not leave my pocket(or waist band) for quite some time. I carry a knife for defense, this is the only one I've ever felt 100% secure with(now I just need the tapes)
