How about a "lightweight" Persian?

The Persian is just about all I carry these days. Beautiful knife, practical size.
I think this would be a good candidate for a "lightweight" linerless version. The weight of the existing model isn't bad, but it's still enough that I know the knife is there.

Anybody else feel the same way?

I preposed a tactical persian variant a while backusing g10 and titanium to take down some weight and width as well as offering a better grip. I dunno if a zytel one would fly either but I love this knife and would like to see some other variants.

I love the Persian. I carry mine quite a bit. Not sure I would like a "lesser" one though. I agree maybe a little weight loss would be ok but to compromise how its built would take away from it IMO. Never saw a lesser Viele, it got updated and better. I see the Persian very similar. Just my 2 cents worth.

I am not talking about replacing the existing model, just adding a lightweight variant to the lineup. (People like me would then of course be forced to own two :) ).

Also, it may be possible to do this without detracting from looks. Perhaps one could make the handles completely out of micarta and do away with the liners and backspacer altogether (similar to the Beretta Busfield "persian" style lockback).
Then maybe you could make the bolsters out of aluminum (don't know if that could aquire / retain the right lustre), or just make them very thin.

Just some thoughts.

My only concern about removing the liners would be the resulting decreased strength. But the idea of a lighter Persian would be a great idea.
