How about a name change?

This forum was originally a typical manufacturers forum, with a factory guy to answer questions and all. Go to the Manufacturer's page here, and you'll see in the description how these are great made in USA knives, and then there is a link to Taylor Cutlery, showing all the wanna-be Old Timers and such made in China or by whoever.

This place has not been a factory forum for a long, long time. What we have done here so well, and so much, is discuss the history or Schrade and the knives. Newbies with a question about their old Schrades get quick, accurate, entertaining and education answers. No other forum here at BFC does it all as well as we do.

Anyone on board with this idea? If so, you needed post here, an Email to Spark or a post in the General forum-- 'Service and Support' will go much further.

My idea for a new name is: "Schrade Collectors Forum". Just an idea, feel free to disagree, it's a free country.

Phil

It has been seven months since the name "Schrade" was bought by another entity, who had the intention of resuming the marketing of "Schrade, WKC, etc." knives, and as far as I have been able to determine, this forum has been ignored by that entity, and there has been no noticable attempt to continue sponsorship and participation as was done by Imperial Schrade, Ellenville.

Changing the name and placement to Schrade Collector's forum is a natural since that is really what this has been as long as I have been here. As it stands, this forum is a free plug for an uninterested, uninvolved manufacturer. If it were a voting matter, I would vote to make the change you have suggested.

Codger

Warning: DO NOT PICK THE SCHRADEKNIVES LINK! It has been hacked and you get a code one message!!!!

I am in for whatever the majority wants and I agree with the expressed sentiments. It is memorial weekend and my horoscope agrees with my attitude on this weekend "your attitude will be lousy stay away from human contact or confrontation" I have had no problems with Buddy of Buster my bed partners ( Male neutered cats ) it gives me a delusion of potency . The bills are paid and there is plenty of venison, Shrimp, beans, beer, and crown royal. I am locked down ( chained sign in the driveway reads ACCESS DENIED )It could be worse. I am not contacting sparks or anyone else here is my vote ( if I have one ) DO IT. Any name is as good as another it is what is intended, denoted, it is what gets done that matters. You are correct our venue is at best out dated. LT PS I suppose that means we need one of those moderator things If so, Phil,as a Sgt once said to me you gots the ideas you gots the problems.

How about "Schrade-Manufactured Knives" forum? Taylor can buy all of the names they want, but unless the factory in China changes its name to Schrade, this is one thing they can't call their crappy knives.

I'm not really lobbying for a job. I am lobbying for a name change. I wrote:
If so, you needed post here and what I should have written was:
'you needn't post here'.

Fine idea for a name, Carl64.

Phil among us all you are modern, modeful, mojestic, and we want mo so do not be modest or immoderate and commence your momegamofulous moderation as our moderator. Your first detail seems to be teaching the masses where and how to post the request to change the status of the forum. I do not know why we cannot simply request it in the manner of these postings but, if you will post exactly with arrows pictures and in a manner that even a mentally challenged computer moron such as myself can figure out I will do as my leader ( thas you brudder man ) so directs.

That being said pick up that gauntlet and commence the commencen. If any others feel as I do please innundate and torture er I mean urge and convince Phil that we need him please post some statments to let him know that we are behind him shoving ( er backing ) him.

Remember Phil some men are born to greatness, some men achieve it, and some say the wrong thing and have it thrust upon them. Something has been needed to be done so do it.

Send in those postings SUPPORT PHIL. Of course with the time you will now have to expend on this project you may have to give up your regular job. Just kidding ( er I hope ). LT

Yeah, what he said........

That is as erudite as I can be this morning. Besides, who could follow THAT act without failing..... :D

Tell us where to go..... :o errr, I mean what to post and where.

Bill

I'm all for a name change that reflects what we actually talk about and do here. I think that the link to the Taylor website should be discarded, so far Taylor has done nothing with the Schrade name that deserves our support. If a link was added at a later date, it would have to be earned by putting out a US made product worthy of the name. Thats my 2 cents, but then again I'm stuck in a bit of a time warp when it comes to Schrade products. If it ain't from Ellenville, I'm really not interested.

PHIL PHIL he's our man if he can't do it no one can. YEA TEAM. Yup this living alone has finally pushed me over the edge. OH WELL, GO PHIL GO YEA. LT

I also nominate Phil for moderator :D and humbly suggest calling the forum....Original Imperial Schrade Collectors or something like that.

Kap

support a name change to reflect that this is in all reality an Imperial Schrade Collectors forum, and not a "Taylor Schrade" Manufacturers forum.

Phil,
Schrade 1904-2004 forum.
Covers all.
You have my support Mr. Margarita Moderator! :p

I like SCHRADE 1904-2004. It leaves room for the new guys and the contempory issues and the old stuff like me. LT

I like Schrade 1904-2004 also. It's not too "in your face" about differentiating between the original and the next generation, but I think it does make a point.

Schrade 1904-2004.

Where dwell the lost souls of Uncle Henry.

Moderated by he who dares.

Kept alive by he who holds the stone.

Luis

I like it. I like Schrade 1904 - 2004 very, very much.
Phil

ps, Ted: The holder of the stone in this case, is our LT. Get this: He owns the cornerstone of the Schrade factory. Can you believe that?
The moderated part of Luis' parable (is that what it is?) has not been determined. And a few of us have long called ourselves the 'Uncle Henry's Lost Souls'.

And, Ted, a little ceremony to welcome you officially to the forum: Here's your ping-pong ball, an old pair of LT's socks, a ride in Larrys car, a handmade hatband from Luis and if you kneel, I will touch your shoulder with my big and bad Schrade Bomb Tech (blunt tip for safety).
