Ya know, the traditional forum has it's own swap thread, why not have a strictly schrade swap thread right here?

Here's one to start us off. A MAC Tool etched LB7 excellent condition with serial number locks up super tight!. Looking for muskrats, trappers, and premium stockmen Old Timers are ok, open stock preffered, the older the better condition not an issue. No stainless or Uncle Henrys please.
P.S that's just dust on the scanner, the bolsters are clean as can be.

I asked Spark/Cougar if it is O.K. to do this. I'm thinking we need permission first.

How about a Schrade Swap thread in Trade: Knives & Tools?

The moderator of the Traditional forum is constantly having to deal with newbies posting knives for sale in the swap thread there. It's not easy to see how to keep a swap thread in an unmoderated forum spam free. The Exchange moderators keep a close watch on Trade: Knives & Tools; it wouldn't be any extra burden there.

We could put a link to it here in the Schrade forum in a closed sticky thread.

Cougar, I see you posted while I was posting also.

Yes I guess but if someone decided to do a swap and used a yahoo email account to another yahoo email account holder and did a swap this way and it went all wrong then yahoo would not be responsible at all especially if they did not authorise it??
The forum may not prevent it but I dont see how they could be responsible if they allowed it either. Just a thought??
Surley I could offer an exchange with above (if I wanted to) as Im not strictly selling?? I guess there is always a chance money could exchange hands in a swap if one item was not worth as much, then it could get complicated??
If thats the case perhaps it does need careful consideration first???

I believe you missed his point, Tim. We have no moderator here. It isn't about web owner liability. It is about folks coming in and trashing the collector forum with spam. We police ourselves here, as far as we can. Then we have to impose of Cougar to intervene. It is not easy, believe me. We need someone in attendance of the swap, an active moderator to keep dealers and eBay slime out.

Cougar, a swap sticky would be cool! We can just add our own non-specific notices when we have something listed over there. Works for me if it works for you!

I have wondered why there is no Moderator here. Camillus forum has two.
I can think of a couple of people here, who would be good for the position.

Manufacturer forum moderators are usually affiliated with the manufacturer. In this case, there isn't one. In the case of the Camillus forum, Phil Gibbs has recused himself of the duty, I believe. Will Fennel last posted in June of 2004. Tom Williams (CAMCO) is the only remaining moderator there. Being a moderator is not an easy task.

Ive suggested it in the past but things have been going pretty well on here.Michael I agree with you and Cougar.A sticky would work well enough.Arnold

On the other hand, would putting it all in one thread in Trade: Knives & Tools have any advantage? What's wrong with the current system of starting a new thread there for each new proposed swap?

One advantage of that is when new people come along they can see all the rules of the trading forum -- there are 4 current announcements. If we put them all in one thread in Trade: Knives & Tools and post a link in this forum that goes directly to that thread, that would bypass the rules announcements.

I believe you missed his point, Tim

Didnt miss point Michael just was compiling my reply to you while Cougar was doing his at same time.

Who knows probably would have missed it so thanks anyway.
Tim

Nah, one thread there isn't needed. Individuals posting there could just post like :"Trade Schrade for Schrade". Sticky here can have the forum rules spelled out (for there and here on open trading) with redirect to the trade forum. Specific titled posts would be easy enough to pick out with the redirect. I just meant, we could post here..."Hey! Check the trade forum!" when we pop something in there. Having the redirect sticky here would just give viewers a shortcut with the rules displayed every time.

I would be interested in a Schrade Knives For Sale forum set up like the one for the Buck guys, but for Schrade knives of course. I think you must have a Gold membership in order to participate.

redshanks, I second that motion. But without a regular moderator it may be a little difficult to control. It would be nice to buy knives from people you can trust and know what they are talking about.

Moderation isn't a problem for that forum; it's part of the Exchange and moderated by the Exchange moderators. There's a link to it in the Buck forum, that's all.

I'm sure Spark would be willing to set up a Schrade forum like that under the same conditions: if 40 Gold Members & above ask for it. If 40 people will participate in it, it will be viable as a separate forum.

Is that what you want, to have a separate forum for buying and selling Schrade only? Or would you rather go on doing your buying and selling in the main forum?

Just an idea, but since there are Schrade and Camillus collectors here, and since their somewhat connected in history, how about the trade forum dealing with both?

I'm OK with selling or trading Camillus and Schrades together. In fact, I'd like to be able to trade Ulsters, Craftsman, and Imperials too. I like the whole idea. Requiring a gold membership doesn't bother me.

I will also go gold for something like this. But I agree with thawk I wish we could trade camillus, schrade, imperial, ulster any thing in the family or close to it. I"d be willing to do whatever it takes this would be great!!!!
