Probably not worth the bandwidth, in my opinion. It'd be very popular for maybe a week or two, then it'd be just another knife laws forum.
Then again, if it's not a drain on the server, why not do it? If you add a sharpening forum and a Sebenza discussion forum (oh, wait), it'll probably drop half the BDF traffic, which might be nice. Make it easier to navigate.
I would think a continuing sharpening thread would be better served in the makers forum, where any significant change would benifit someone who makes knives for a living, face it most people won't invest more than a couple of $ for sharpening equipment,($100+ just for bench size diamond hones, much lesst Japaneese water stones or belt grinders. For the weekend sharpener/first time sharpener, there a good bit of info in the FAQ, and tons of links out there, bottom line is though, if you don't learn how to sharpen free hand(practice, practice, practice), and what sharp really is, your eventually going to be disappointed in any stones or system you have.
The bright side is, that there is hope for you bevelly/edge geometry challenged folks, and it's education, and perseverance, these will show you the way, and if that don't work, make friends with someone who can sharpen.
