Where is that EEE guy..... I need a report on the 819 SS from his hunting trip!

I read in another thread that Mike Kerins was going to San Diego this month...I wish I was, too... :(

Oct 7-8 is the Coronado Classic Speed Festival, at NAS North Island, Coronado CA. I love the vintage race cars. And an airport setting is perfect for demonstration runs, viewing, photo ops, etc. If you're in the area that week, go to www.fleetweeksandiego.org for details...

...Oh - there's a bunch of Navy stuff going on, too... :D

Someone else won my lotto...:grumpy:

Me too! :D :D :D

They use to have the vintage races in downtown Steamboat Springs...gotta love real street courses:D . Got to big and the congestion was to great for the merchants to tolerate, not to mention the libility(IIRC there was a driver killed or seriously injured). They moved it out to the condo area south of downtown...nice setting and course, but not a real street course:( .

It was/is one of the premier vintage events and drew entries from all over the country. Not sure of it's status now, but loved going and seeing famous/unique race cars from very early times to recent past(1969). Preston

Here is a useless.....

Since it seems a serious no no to say who or where, but the what, is some one the infamous auction site is putting up some cool handeled 110's that are quite interesting.

Thang is..... for some reason they are carving what I guess is a series number in the BOLSTER instead of on the blade. Ok,,I guess engraving is a better word.
Whatever,,,,it totally turned me off when I saw it. Just seems wrong to me to do that on a bolster.

I want to go to one of the street races, but the one they have here, or used to have, created such a traffic jam and lack of restroom facilities, that we didn't want any part of it. I guess you have to be into that a lot more than I am.

...I agree ratski...I have never even liked the well done engraving and such on bolsters or blades whether done by an amateur or a true craftsman. It's just a personal thing that I have that I do not like embellishments like that on a knife. My preferance has always been "au natural"... ( never liked make-up on wimmin' either......LOL )

Wow,,,you guys got me interested.... Houstons Grand Prix thing has moved out to Reliant Park (Astrodome). Lot better facilities out there even tho not racing in the streets, like it was in downtown. May be something to go to in the spring.

Thanks....I would pefer nickel silver over brass so I am not going too crazy on the bidding.....time will tell.

When the first Denver Grand Prix was run it was in downtown right next to the state capital, Broadway and Sixteenth, it was terrible(congestion, traffic and crowds), merchants thought that they would make lots of money...found that they were shut off from the event...people once into the "gate" couldn't get back out to shop or dine and limited facilities. Organizers had the customers, not the merchants. Real uproar from merchants, citizens and city officials...it went away for a few years

They now have it at Pepsi Center parking lot and a few streets of the Auraria campus. Not sure if it is a money maker for merchants or the city...sure it is for the organizer and TV. Preston
