How about a tanto

I know that you guys have the lum tanto, but what about a cheaper FRN model? Tanto's take a licking and keep on ticking and it would probably be a great bang for your buck knife. :D

A tanto in G10 with the Compression lock would be even nicer

I agree about the G10. But I would like seeing one in FRN so I could pick one up as a beater. I think it would take a good amount of abuse.

Get Bob Lum on the phone now!!!! I agree it is something that must be done. The Lum tanto folders I have are really pricey and an FRN Version is really making sense to me too. However I do want good blade steel like VG-10 or S30V or even ATS-55. :)

Yup my ATS 55 endura takes a truely scary sharp edge, to the point where it shaves without contacting the skin. Cuts the hairs in the middle. I would difinately like a tanto that sharp :D

It is with G-10 handles and features the compression lock ;)

Say there "dialex" are they making this new Spyder in a Combo Edge? Also, did I see a glassbreaker on this guy like the one on the Assist I? :)

Cool pics. This seems to go directly into competition with Emerson and Cold Steel, both of which who've specialized in this type of knife for years. What's the point?

I would buy one with no web cutter or notch in the blade. I really like the design but have no use for those features

I still love the original lum tanto folder design better. Just give it a compression lock or even backlock with G10 scale will do.

That's a sweet looking tanto, dialex

That knife is AWESOME! What is it? Will it be produced? What's the purpose of the notch on top of the blade? Thanks. -Lev

Thank you for your interest in my "Altactan"
At least in the near future, it will be available as a custom knife only (5 or 10 pieces in the first run). Features plain edge, S30V steel, without the "wave hook". Also it won't have the glass breaker and the cord ripper. The locking system is a hybrid between a linerlock and a compression lock (a compression lock placed where a regular linerlock is).
The colour of the G-10 handles may vary according to your personal prefferences. Also the grind (hollow, full flat - your choice). Not to mention that it can be made for lefties as well - hey, it's a custom! :)

Keep in mind that most of the new FRN models have been based on the Delica/Endura Handle Platform, which greatly reduces costs. Thus any FRN Tanto would have to fit in the handles.
Also, The platform may not be able to withstand the forces that an American Tanto style tip would allow.

Perhaps if someone could design a blade whose edges would be covered by the existing handle design?

Hey Diallex how could one go about obtaining one of those custom knives? Also I really think the cord ripper, glass breaker option would be awesome. :)
