Okeedoke guys,I would like to start making some kydex sheaths, most of the folks who are interested in my knives seem to want the matte finished tactical style blades(saves alot of time at the buffer-YAY!) and I guess It`s high time I started making kydex sheaths for them.
any insight you could give me would be appreciated.

Bossman, do a search for Kydex or Concealex on this forum. There have been a few tutorials written on the subject. And or do a search on Normark, he's our resident Concealex expert, he's written quite a few things here.

Good luck,
Tom

Boyer Blades has some info here .
There is also a wealth of knowledge here at the site that keeps Bob Engnath's legacy alive. The kydex info is in the sheath section.
In Allen Blade's video he advises using less masking tape on the tip of the blade so you will have a more snug fit there when molded. This a will stop the blade from moving around in the sheath and gives you leeway on how tight you make the sheath. The emphasis here was that you could reduce the chances of scratches by not having the kydex or concealex as tight to the sides of blade.

Greg

Hey! That's my secret tip!

Acually, my best trick is to use flexable magnetic sheet material...There, I've said it!

This works great if you are making more than one of the same size blades...Not very economical for one of a kind...

Just cut the material to fit, leaving a little bit at the tip to hold tight...Easy on and easy off...

I was looking into my picture files, I though I had a picture sequence on the way we made sheaths at the contract shop I helped set up...

So far all I could find was the sequence for making the "G" clip...Turns out to have more steps than the making of the sheath itself!

I'll post it on the web at some later date, I'm not at my home computer right now...
