How about an updated Buckmaster?!

Sure it was a little heavy, and I never figured out what the spiked anchors were really for, but it was a really good knife. I liked the sheath alot too. Aside from a one piece hollow handled knife, I doubt you could find one sturdier than the Buckmaster. How about a new heavy duty survival blade from Buck?

I'll second that motion!

I think the Intrepid would qualify for what you're talking about, just without the hollow handle. Have you looked at that one?

The Intrepid just doesn`t have the fugly Rambo quality that the Buckmaster has in spades! The Buckmaster is sort of a classic survival type knife, back when they were all the rage. Viva la diference!

I agree. There is just something about the Buckmaster. I have owned 3 of them over the years, and thought they were great. As I got new knives, I ended up giving away or trading the Buckmaster. But always ended up getting another one! How about a Buck colaboration with Reeve or maybe a production Buck version of the Robert Parrish? Maybe a limited run of "Buckmaster 2001's"

The Buckmaster came out when i first started working at Buck in 1985. It has about the highest "cool" rating of any knife in a while. I too would love to see it come back although the logistics of new tooling ect...make that a long shot.

Joe- if you get the chance, maybe you could just throw the idea out there just to get them thinking about it! I know there would have to be a pretty big demand, but I would be first in line to buy one. The "coolness" factor is what made me want the first one. I got it when I was a Scout in the 8th grade. My dad told me if I got straight A's for the entire year, he'd get it for me. And I did! It was a lot cooler than the knives my friends had at the time.

tknife,
Heck, I would have even tried for straight A's if it meant getting a Buckmaster!

Yup, it was worth it! And that same one is still in the family. I gave it back to my dad, and he keeps it in his truck in an emergency kit.
