I know this is a knife forum, but I also know that most knife collectors are also gadget freeks. Because of the long nights here in the winter, I started collecting lights. I have photon lights, saphire lights, Mag lights, xenon lights, LED lights, and an Eternalight. I am allways looking for the newest, brightest, smallest lights, so if you have a favorite, I would love to know about it. I am specifically talking about lights that you can carry on your person.

I like the Streamlight Scorpion for a long storage emergency light, glove compartsments and the like, but it is awfully handy on your person as well. Expensive at $5.00 an hour to burn, but will store ten years and be ready when you need it. Backstage I carry a Streamlight Stinger, keep it on a charger overnight and it is reliable as all get out.

I just tried the Streamlight Solitare as well. The three cell white is has too long a body and an unfocused beam, but has turned out to be a great little desk light in the Lighting Booth and might come in handy at spotlight positions. But the two cell red is a winner, brighter than the white and a perfect size. If they come out with a brighter, tighter beamed two cell white it would be great.

I like that little saphire light that's been advertised everywhere in knife magazines. Blue light seems to be much better for seeing stuff (than red). It's probably closer to what colors we can see in the visible spectrum.

I keep a Photon Light (yellow at the moment) clipped to my T-shirt at all times (except in the shower), even in bed. That way, if something goes bump in the night, like one of the many earthquake faults around here, and the power quits, I don't have to fumble around for a flashlight and/or the exit.

And, because we "knife people" are also all sorts of other "gadget" people, we have the Community forum for, among other things, flashlights, hammers, power drills, and elephant guns. So I'm moving this thread to Community.
