O.K. , let's hear them .... Let us know what you think , how they cut , have they cut you yet ? ANYTHING , I am waiting for mine to arrive , and need a MAXX fix . I'm sure I'm not the only one . Take pics , taunt those of us who are still waiting , just give me a little fix .........AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!

You're lucky my camera is down for now, or your keyboard would be a gunky mess by the time you finish reading this. Mine came a few hours ago and WOW! :D :D

It has a beautiful blue anodize job with amazingly good fit and finish. It opens oh-so-smoothly and locks tight and secure. The grind lines are first-rate and that D2 blade is SHARP!!

I have two versions of Darrel's custom Maxxes and this one looks and operates so very close to them that it's scary. I hope the rest of you out there get a similar one; I can't believe Camillus can do the great job using these materials at this price. But who am I to argue with them? :D

Will, I apologise for giving you folks a hard time on shipping. Hang in there, everyone, these knives are worth the wait.

Just got my Camillus Cuda 5.5

Nice!

Pros: Light in the pocket, strong, love the D2 and Titanium, never thought my budget would allow me something like this! Pocket clip works nicely. I swear, I might even carry it every day! Cuts my hair nicely. Very sharp, very strong.

Previously carried Cold Steel 5" Voyager, but too bulky, thick blade, hard to close.

Cons for CUDA: A bit hard to open & close (my best here is the lowly Schrade Cliphanger CH7, opens/closes like butter), the frame lock...strong though. I expected a more mirror finish on the blade. What is that bearing made of? TEFLON, I hope, I wouldn't want it to melt.

I can't help you because I'm in the same boat, waiting to receive mine and maintain some shred of patience. I'm really stoked about getting it considering the rave reviews you guys keep pouring in. From the way everyone keeps going on about them, it sounds like the new pocket lightsaber. :D

Yep, it is a winner. I am still amazed that Camillus was able to bring this to the table at the price they are charging. This is a superbly done collaboration! May just become the standard by which all others are judged.........not to melodramatic is it?;) But this is as good as I've seen from a factory since I had an original DDR MADD MAXX at one time.

Agree with all thats been said. Anodizing is great. Fit and finish is outstanding. The D-2 blade is as sharp as any I own, and I am a CONFIRMED Sebenzinista:D

This may sound a bit on the anal side but the very first thing I look at when I get a new knife, and this usually tells me a lot, is whether or not the blade is centered between the handle slabs. The Camillus MAXX is right down the middle! The only thing I have done is to tighten the pivot to my liking. Amazing how I have opened this thing a hundred or more times since Monday and the lock still locks up at the same spot on the blade tang as the first time I opened it! :D

:D :D What everyone has said!! I rushed home from work yesterday, just in time to get the package from the Brown Truck lady, and the joy commenced! My Maxx revealed itself in a cool gray with a hint of blue, but has been gradually evolving to a pure medium blue with a hint of purple at the frame lock. I did the Windex treatment to bring out the blue.
This is the most beautiful folding knife I own. Though it is huge, its proportions are so harmonious (and it is so relatively light) that it seemed quite reasonable to carry in a jeans pocket. So I did, and it is easy! Fit and finish appear perfect. The handle just feels right, and the titanium seems to take to the skin in a comforting way. The knife is formidable, yet elegant, somehow less P.I. looking than some other superfolders, at least to me.
I need to learn how to handle this large knife. I'm respectful and cautious right now, because it is a very big, very strong, very sharp tool. (And I cut my finger cutting bread last week!)
I am devoted to Bowie knives, but could't carry one where I live-- until now, since we are permitted folders!! I'm one happy Maxx owner! Thanks Will, Darrel, Camillus. I didn't expect to be able to own a knife of this caliber. Very well done!

.... I'm still very impresed . This thing is a monster , but a controllable monster . It is one of the smoothest knives I've ever handled , custom or production . Opens like butter and locks like a vault . When it clicks open it sounds like a tuning fork . I haven't cut much with it yet , but what I have cut slid apart at the molecular level , I swear .

I posted a rather lengthy reply on FullerH's thread "What do people think of the CUDA Maxx 5.5" if you're interested in hearing more.

Received my Maxx last week. Love the knife, it's everything I expected and more. I do have one question though. Some of you have said that the fit and finish is outstanding. The fit is outstanding on mine, and the finish is great on most places, except for the part near the guards. On that part of the blade grind marks are evident even though it has obviously been polished. Is this just my knife, or is everyone's blade like this?

kamagong,
Unfortunately, those laser cut marks are on all of the blades, in the curves of the guards. The D2 is very tough stuff, and in those curved areas, we were not able to polish/grind out the marks, without CONSIDERABLE expense. That, coupled with the fact that the DO give some traction when using the guards for the QUIK FLIK option, made us decide, along with Darrel, to leave the areas as they are. Our polling early on showed that folks found it acceptable, especially when you consider how much we would have to upcharge to cover the cost of finishing that area:rolleyes: . We will continue to look for was to smooth this area out economically, but at this time, that is the way they are coming.

Thanks for being a customer!

Will:

Please leave that area the same as it is on this version. It provides a little bit of grip when opening with the guard instead of the flipper. Please lose the quik flik logo on the blade. I think it would be a bad thing to have on a blade in a trial.

I really love the knife and I am going to get several more.

Thanks Will for the quick response. I'm not griping, just curious. I do have one problem though. This knife is just too pretty, I don't think that I have the heart to carry it and scratch it all up...:D
