How about this 15" folder...?

Hi Dan and welcome to the forums. Personally I love
"megafolders" having examples from Kit Carson, Darrel Ralph and Butch Vallotton, (which is an astounding 2 feet opened!), among others.

I had to laugh when I saw this one because he lists it as "stag" handled in the headline but lists it as "stag bone" in the text, (whatever that is). Atleast it's some kind of bone. This thing I'm sure is one of those Pakistan models that Smokey Mountain Knife Works routinely sells for $10.00-$15.00 in their catalog.

If you like it go for it. Don't let any of us "elitists" sway you. Looks like it would make a neat paper weight or letter opener. ;)

Gene,

That is definitely a paper weight.

Anyway, you will rarely see megafolders for sale on ebay.

I wish there was a little more "trading" going on amongst megafolder-holders. (like?) Yes, even here.

The most common large folders made are Italian's 13", 15" and 17" all standard. After 17" they keep going up in size but are rarer. I have also seen some humongous Bali's.

WOW!.. (...And I thought that my REKAT Sifu was long, at 1 foot open!.:D.).

Strider,

What brand Italian's have you seen?

Dan

No one brand since they are all made by small cutlers in and around Mangio, Italy. SKM/AB, Beltrame, ANC etc all carry them. I think the main family that produces the larger models is Falcione if I spelled it correctly which provides the other Co's. with their large models.

I was looking through that Fox .pdf catalog the other day and they had some monster looking switchblades on the back pages. No doubt unavailable around these parts.

Bob,

I've asked around and while there are oversized automatic knives available, I haven't found any folders.

Plus, can you buy a knife from Europe and have it sent to the U.S. (even if they can't manufacture it here?) Just curious about the legalities, etc.

Dan go over to the auto forum here and check out some past threads. The C word is a no-no here as is discussing importation. You should be able to glean info on that forum though. Also check out BA they always have the big boys for sale. E-mail me for any other particular questions you might have.
