I got caught up on blacksmithing orders the other day, so I forged a little bowie, using some "special"steel from my stash, and came very close to polishing it, when I decided to go ahead and etch it to bring out the quench line I knew was hiding, this was the result.

What do you guys think of it? Oh and the same file across the edge and spine will almost skate off the edge, but bites into the spine easily. water quenched, and etched in ferric for about 10 minutes, scrubbed clean with dawn dish soap and baking soda and oiled.

That oughtta make for an interesting looking finished product. :D
Your gonna have to think of a good name for that cool looking hamon. Looks almost like a cumulus cloud on the edge side. Nice job on it!

Please post a pic of it when you get it mounted and finished up.
