Had a Sig 220 once. Very reliable, accurate, and it was a pleasure to carry (wieghs about 27 oz...the same as an aluminum framed 1911 Commander. My only problem with them is I don't like having DA/SA as my only option. I prefer a consistent action, with no change over to adapt to.

If you don't have a problem with the DA/SA issue though, I'm sure it'd be a heckuva good gun that would serve a couple lifetimes.

Nope can't be a SAO or a DAO; traditional DA is your only option with Sigs.

Anyone else noticing the schmoo, DDean and kismet icons all over the place?

If you're interested in options you might take a gander at the Heckler & Koch USP series. DA/SA, DAO, or SAO. Although as I recall the DAO does take a little internal tinkering most likely by a certified person, but you still have your immediate choice of DA/SA, with a decocker, or cocked and locked carry. Other than that the gun is reliable, hellbent for stout, accurate, and has excellent handling qualities.

Just a thought, I'm usually pretty jingoistic, traditional, and not a fan of plastic guns, but...I gotta give credit where it's due, the H&K is pretty darn nice.

I had a nice .45 compact HK USP, GREAT shooter, but I sold it and bought two model 23's from Glock with the proceeds.

Actually the P226/P229 in 40 S&W or 357 Sig Can be ordered DAO from Sig Arms as per the website, P220 can be converted to DAO by the Sig Arms Pro shop for $120 per the website, hope this helps DIJ.

Why would you want to go DAO when SA provides a shorter and lighter trigger pull?

DAO, for me, is a best combination of combat readiness and safety.
I know, everyone has their opinion, but with DAO you get a consistent trigger pull, etc...

We all have opinions. Here's a belief:

I believe I like my SIG P229 a lot.

Hey, it was good enough for Mulder & Scully.

Get it in .40 & buy a .357 SIG drop in barrel- 2 guns in one.

In the massive gun thread, not many spoke up for .357 SIG, but it's a great round. 12+1 with like.357 Mag ballistics.

I have a Ruger P-90 DC in .45. Cost about 1/2 the Sig tag. Course, I stand to inherit a Sig P series from me dad. It is single and double action, 7=1 capacity. I got it in the early 90s.

Rugers' policies and politics are annoying, but this .45 i Like. I'm not a big fan of the 1911 all steel model, the balance sux. I love the feel and balance of an alloy lower frame and an all steel slide. Seems to ballast properly in the hand for me.

But since you're looking to spend the big bux, I'd say USP, SA's new stuff, Sig, or Beretta.

I got the Ruger cause that's about as low as I'd go on the gun quality chart, and it was the most I could pay outright at the time.

Hey DIJ, you wann sell your CETME when ya get back? Just wonderin' if yer gonna upgrade in the near future to a .50 BMG or something...

How about this one?

Or a linky

This is what I shoot except mine is a parked gun and has a set of the slim line grip panels on it, and I replaced the full length guide rod with a traditional set from Brownells.

Just pitch the magazines that come with it and buy some from Wilson, and you'll be good to go!

I dont even know if I still have a CETME.
I have had to sell a lot of stuff over the last 6 months since I was out of work.
If I still have it, Ill let you know. I was planning on coming home in July.
I was thinking about getting that EAA double rifle.
Still, every good man ought to have a good military rifle.
I am a big fan of the STG-58 and the CETME's

Bruise,

When did you see me shoot?

Like I tell people.

I never miss what I aim at, but I don't always aim at what I think I'm aiming at! :footinmou

Danny, I'll have to email you to discuss the CETME in more detail, as it'll involve FFL's and such to get it from TX to IN, if you do want to sell.

Sorry to hear you've been outta work! I was out for about 5 months about 2yrs back, and it really sucked. It was tough, needing to support a newborn & wife thru odd jobs while interviewing like mad.
