Have any of you leather sheath making fellas ever make a knife sheath that is actually stitched horizontally to a belt? It would have to be a smaller blade I'm sure but, has anyone thought to do it before?

Because of the curve of the body, it would have to be a very small knife. Next consideration, you would have to have all new belt loops on your pants to take care of the bulk of the sheath passing through them. All things considered it probably isn't a real good idea as far as actual use is concerned. I have never tried it and I don't know of anyone who has. If you get it done, let us know how it works.

I stitched a nylon sheath into a nylon web belt once. The knife was a United Cutlery 'Undercover'. It's small/thin. Not much bigger than a thick pen. I suppose you could stitch in a smaller push dagger.

How about the Anderson belt buckle knife style. a pocket sewn near the buckle with just the ring sticking out, then it would not have to pass through the belt loops. I made a new belt this way late last year ( my waist got to big for the original) and added a welt to protect the stiching. Sounds like a great idea.

Here in Australia its reasonably common to use a Stockmans Belt or Hobble belt . I know its not what you are talking about , but thought I'd post up a Photo to show you anyway .
The Traditional folder sheath is part of the belt .

That is really neat! Thank you for the picture! :)

I'd like to see more of that one as well!

yes, a few pics with someone wearing it would be great. Man, now I might just need one of thoes..... but it might not fit any of my knives..... I guess i will just need to buy a knife that fits.....Maybe you should not post any more pics of this. it could get expensive.

Heres a few more photos of the belt . Its really hard to take pictures of yourself wearing a belt with a phone camera :)
This is not a belt I made , but a bought one from my local Rural Supplies shop .There are lots of different versions and styles . I personally don't where this belt much now , but for years I wore one very similar . Instead of the knife in the pouch I always had a cigarette lighter , and wore a Leatherman in a sheath on the other side

Edit - Normally I wouldn't put the belt through the belt loop on the jeans nearest the belt buckle , I'd just miss it out , your pants still stay up and it's just easier and quicker to thread the belt on , but I thought I'd show how you can use it like a traditional belt if you want .

Pretty cool Ken, you can put the belt on a pair of jeans and put a shirt inside the jeans and just lay that down and take a photo from directly above, it'll look like someone is wearing it, that's what I did for the peanut knife sheath shot
