As I know that the fine folks at Buck Knives frequent this forum, let me ask - is there any possibility that Buck might consider adding a folder with a guthook to the lineup (not the sharpened type found on big game skinners, but the j-shaped hook for cleaning game birds)? Perhaps a re-issue of the old model #321?

I agree with you Jeff, I'd love to see a re-issue of the Buck 321. I was in SD bird hunting a few weeks ago; I carried this Case 6247H with me because I was scared to trust my Buck 321 (a gift from my Dad some years ago) to the airlines or TSA (I was on good ground with my suspicions too - my hunting buddy's camera, packed in his boot, was missing when he unpacked at home). Taking a current Buck 301 with a modification using a clip main and a hook secondary would do the job - we'd have a real Buck bird hunters knife. If that is too much money for too few sales then maybe even a collaboration with Case - let Case make it in black sawcut Delrin and put the traditional Buck shield on it - much like the old Camillus built originals. Hunter, I like your photo of the pair of ring necks. How about a pair of Band tails. DM

Thank you I bought it new in 1977. About all I've done to it is replace the rubber o-ring. DM

My opinion, I have a couple of 321s (in my collection, not for sale) and have never even tried one on a bird. I realize lots of different techniques are around for caring for your bag. I have never cleaned a Ruffed Grouse, but have shot about 10 Woodcock over here on the border of Ark and Okla over the years. I generally use some type of scissors to dress doves, quail and pheasants. Just the way I got started. I was looking at the new Buck scissors but believe they may be better fishing tool than bird tool. The plier tips seem more tackle tool to me. The old Buck scissors would likely be good for how I clean birds but currently I have a nice pair of garden cutters. Something I don't believe I have ever seen Buck make ? 300Bucks

There were garden pruners..... I lost an auction on one last year :(
I really wanted them too....lol

You would probably love the older Buck shears for birds :)

I don't need a knife for Grouse or Pa'trage just stand on the wings a put straight up while holding the claws.best to do while fresh kill then bag the breast.

I've cleaned chickens with a 8" chef's knife. I don't know how you define "garden cutters" but here are the Buck Pruning Shears for your amusement, Model #720, catalog 5451, made in Taiwan with belt sheath:

David, I bought two quality products in the fall of 1976 that I still have; my Buck 105 (at the PX) and my Winchester Super-X Model-1 12 gauge semi-auto (at the local hardware store). The WIN S-X M-1 has recently gotten a new O ring and a new recoil buffer installed - that's the only parts replacement in all these years - enduring products. OH

It is hard to buy any new guy without tubes and if you hunt waterfowl making sure those tubes are tight are a must. As to the knife...I just like the "do it all tool" ever since a group of us walk through a gun show and seen the Remington green handled upland model on the table. We all placed our money on the table and went home with a smile.

Hunter, These guns were just made different back then. Like Buck knives. The shells improved but the birds are the same. One afternoon in Sept. I dropped a Mourning Dove with that old gun at a measure 69 yards with standard field loads and I have a witness. While walking to it, I was thinking, boy, I doubt I'll find this one. When I arrived to the spot, my dog was locked up pointing it. Priceless!! You guys crack me up. DM

Here you go gents. A pair of female Gambel Quail. My dog worked hard finding these. Don't tell her but She makes my lousy shooting look good. DM

I agree that Buck should start making a "birding" knife, hell I'd buy 2.
All these bird hunting pic's make me really miss my old bird dog "Bo" he was 16 years old and we had to put him down this past summer, sad times. :(
