How about using the Spyderco mules?

Hi, like so many other people before I've often wondered which steel is actually best for slicing, cutting and overall durability. I have read the posts that state you can't compare knives because of geometry, shape and thickness. Of course I agree. Has anyone thought to use the Spyderco mules to test all the different steels? The blades are all the same size, thickness and geometry which would give a fair comparison as to which steel actually performs better. Just curious. :)

AFAIK that's the the point of the Mule line. Haven't picked any of them up yet, but I know they're often used with that intention.

The point of buying Mules is in having them. The point of the Mule line: because they sell!
I have got a few. But I haven't used them to actually compare different steels. And I have not heard from people who did. Sure there were some. I am just kidding. :)

I've been in on the Mule Team project since the beginning. I've carried and used each, usually ungently, but I've never done any sort of scientific, side-by-side-by-side comparison testing. All have something to offer. What has worked best for me probably won't work best for you unless you use your knives exactly the way I use mine and like exactly the same things I like. Have you ever heard of the "fat chance" theory?

When if the next Mule anyway? I missed out on the last one.

I don't know, but I expect it to be soon. The K390 Mules are on the shelf and ready from what Sal has said.
