They look good on the web page, do you guys have any opinion or recomendations about them? Should I go ahead and buy one?

They are excellent tactical knives and a good entry level substitute for an actual Strider knife. I carried an 880SP for a year as an Infantry Squad Leader in Iraq and also own a 880T,, two 888 Solutions, and several 882's. I also own several actual Strider models and think that Buck really did a great job on the Custom to Production collaboration models.

Get one ASAP and don't hesitate because the Buck Strider collaboration is over. Once the dealers and buck sell all remaining stock the Buck striders will be a memory.

I have, and regularly carry, a Strider AR. This is the model that the 880SP was based on. As much as I like my Strider, I have always liked the 880SP better! The ones I've had, except for 1, all had slight problems that were corrected easily enough, and by slight I mean that it might have been a blade that was not completely centered, or a liner lock bar that needed just a tad more bend in it, all things that were easily repaired by myself. To me the Buck 880SP's handle is more streamlined and is a tad bit better fit for my hand. Of course I have no 880SP's now and I do have a Strider AR with a second arriving at the end of this month! The second generation 880SP's are the best as far as I'm concerned due to the hardened liner lock and it is an ambiclip for the lefties. The one I referred to above that I had no problems with was the 2nd gen model and the others were not. Good knife worth the cost.

Actually, the Buck/strider 880 came before the AR. Search the archives and you can find out alot of history on these knives. It's a shame the collaberation went south...
