I am so impressed with the finish of my RC4 its jsut incredible.

The tang and handles are perfect.

I understand that each set of scales is designed and fitted to each blade. But what is the order?

The blade is made? the scales are shaped... and THEN sepearted and the steel is coated?

What is the order? :)

Ive been using my RC4 for a few days and the handle feels SO good in my hands. No hot spots at all. Its just a wonderful knife!

It does. but when is the coating put on? I guess I'm envisioning shaping the scales on the knife... maybe that's not the case.. if it were I would guess the powder coating could get messed up.

Hmm...guess you're waiting on info from one of the all-knowing RP'ers.

In the meantime:

Rats are finished with 100% awesomeness. And that's all that matters.
:D

Is it really powder coat thats on the blade? Im not sure where ive read it, but someone said that its not.

My understanding is that each blade is coated, THEN the scales are fitted. That way the fit is more precise. I read that in a response to the question of stripping the coating off the blade and how the scales would be affected.

It's really amazing when you think about it. For around $100 you get an almost custom knife. I love these things!

This is why you must sand the scales flush with the tang after stripping and polishing.
