How are talon sales?

I am curious as to how the talon is selling. Is it selling as well as expected? Better? Worse? I am curious as to a production company's take on producing such a high end knife. Is there a certain price point at which it isn't worth it to produce a knife? While we knifeknuts can appreciate the finer qualities of an excellent knife like the talon, can the average user?

Dennis,
Good questions...thanks for asking. TALON sales are going better than expected. I'm not gonna devulge any sales figures on a open forum, but we are far ahead of projected 'numbers'. We have ordered ALL of the availible TALONITE in the size we use. All of it! We realized that this knife would have a limited market, but it has sold into more of the 'general market', ie sporting goods stores and gunshops, than we thought it would. But you are right, it is definitely more of a 'knife-nut' thing, with most sales going out through the internet dealers.

It is not planned to be a 'knife for the masses', but its selling nicely. Thanks for the interest!

Thanks Will. It is refreshing to see a knife company push the envelope and take a risk to produce such an exceptional piece. Alot of companies wouldn't do that. I am glad it is paying off and hopr to see more such projects in the future.

I'll back up Will's comment. The Talon has been a very good seller in units, let alone dollars. In dollar sales it is our #1 seller in Camillus products for year to date. I'd say it's been a fine success. Take care.

I bought and am waiting for delivery of a Tom Mayo TNT (Titanium and Talonite). A custom made folder with Talonite blade. Hope the blade lives up to the hype.

Hey Will,

Remember our "bet" about Talon sales? Sounds like I was closer to the mark on this one. Give me a call when you next come up for air

Who's got the best deals on the Camillus Talon ???? I've seen wide variances in the price on the 'net, and not sure what I should be paying if I decide to go for one...

Like Fred, the Talon is number 1 in dollar sales in Camillus for us.

I think the internet, BladeForums in particular, has had such a positive impact on the sale of high end knives and the education of consumers in regard to Talonite that it is no wonder the knife is so popular with Internet dealers and Knife Knuts.

It has been interesting to watch Rob over the last few years and I hope he would agree the interent has played a large role in how he has developed. Rob is a great knife maker, and more importantly a great person who I call a friend.

Mike, without Bladeforums and the internet, I would have never heard of Talonite, met Will Fennell, you, Spark, and all of the great people I have met the last few years. Blade Forums in particular is responsible for well over 90% of my sucess! Thanks for the great place Mike, Lorie and Spark!

Rob, it sounds like you guys may be "coming up for air" out there in Montana finally? Everyone make out OK? Or are you still under evac alert and posting from somewhere else.

Hope all is well.

Pretty much same thing I've found - although I only recently found someone selling for $195, and some other places are charging up to $350...glad I didn't step into one of those traps !

If you've found them for $195.00 the best advice I could give you is SNAP that sucka up! FAST!
The cheapest I've seen yet is $225.00.
If your feeling generous you might please e-mail your source for these to me. At that price, I suddenly feel the "need" for one!
