How are the lock and handle of SOG X-42 Autoclip?

I realized lock and handle could be almost as important as the blade for a folder knife.
I'm interested in SOG X-42 Autoclip series. The blade is of good material. The backlock should be good enough if done well. But the hande is made of Zytel only. It is said that the blade geometry of tanto is good for prying. So if the zytel handle of this SOG knife is not tough enough, the blade geometry is useless.
Anybody who owns this SOG knife can tell me how is the quality of the handle and the lock? I don't have a chance to see a real one. Thanks.

Used to own a clip blade autoclip and it was a good enough knife but I doubt if the handle is strong enough to pry with.

I own such a knife. I forget how I got it but mine is fully serrated, meaning the blade is effectively chisel ground. It's a hard, hard blade.

Imho it's a very stout knife. If it only had a plain edge I might carry it more often. It feels "overbuilt" and very solid to me. The lock on mine engages with a loud and crisp "click" with zero blade play.

I think it should meet your standards.

Hmmm I'm tempted to get the PE now...

DeadManWalking,

:) I think you must have many knives.

You two gave me somewhat opposite information. Of course I won't use the Autoclip as a combat knife, if I buy one. But I will probably use it to open a can sometimes. I usually keep my blade as sharp as I can, so if the handle break when I penetrate a can, it's too dangerous.

Actually I can't imagine deliberately prying with any folder (well, maybe a Strider :D ) much less any folder with just zytel handles. The Autoclip is a good knife and served me well but prying??
