How are the scales affixed?

Here I am asking a question about a folder. As most know, they are not my cup of tea.

On the 110 Third Version, Var. 4, there are no visible scale rivets.

Without speculation, does anyone know how the scales are affixed on that version of the 110?

hi there
they are glued with a greenish black substance!!!
there are pins most times some did not get them or they disapear
in the wood if it swells as the heads got sanded off
but they are glued on
i dont know when they went to a diff glue but that back stuff some times
shows as a line at the edges of the scales
much better fit today then way back then

Here's one that I got with no pins/rivets...

Gentlemen:

I thank you all for the information. That about solves the problem.

EEE it is exactly like the fifth one down. ITE, yes mine is the same. Also has the very, very dark scales that both of yours exhibit.

Thanks again to all of you, Ima, ITE, Dave110 and EEE.

Dave Martin: I think that this 3rd Version Var.4 is the only 110 that Buck made without scale rivets.
