I didn't go so far as bringing up the dead thread of New Year's resolutions post, but it seems timely (mostly because I can sit on my high horse and judge :D) to check up on how everybody is doing on those resolutions made for 2009.

We are getting to mid-August now, well past the year. If you haven't followed through on at least one of your resolutions....well you better start cracking :p

As for me....I did pretty good:

1) Meet more BF members
2) Perform Friction Fire
3) Get out camping more

1) I got to meet and spend some time with DocCanada, Brian Andrews, Magnussen, Jimi Wade, Jinyri, Rupestris and maintained pretty good contact with others through passarounds and such. I need to do a better job of meeting more fellow Americans and take advantage of my frequent travels to meet up with members at destination cities.

2) Talfuchre was all over my ass in March on this one and I was glad that he kept riding me. I sought the tutorial help of DocCanada who was kind enough to spend Earth Day with me and show me the ropes (or cordage). Since then I made many, many coals using 3 different types of wood and even managed to show a few other members the technique as well as teach (or attempt to) my field course class the method.

3) Get out camping more. Well I improved over last year but didn't camp as much as I could have or would like to. I think I got in 5 weekends so far this year. The new experience for me was tarp tenting which I did when I camped alone up in Kingston the last time. That was fun. I even managed to drag my wife out camping three times and she'll be coming this weekend in a joint trip with Brian Andrews. Up next - I want to do more tarp tenting and take advantage of my military poncho + liner. I want to take more advantage of camping opportunties in the cool fall months of Oct. but with my fall schedule that will be demanding.

So how about the rest of you. How are you doing on those resolutions? What can we do in order to get you butt in gear and help out?

I dont remember what my resolution was, so I'm going to say it was exactly what ever i'm doing right now, so I win.

I planned on doing a lot more hunting and hiking this year and not so much work around the ranch. I failed. Still headed to Wyoming elk hunting later this year though. I'm looking forward to that. Next year will be different....right.
