I can't recall who mentioned they were thinking about putting a single edge bevel on their JKM-1 but it got me to thinking that if a knife ever deserved that edge it was this one.
And I started putting the edge on mine during the evenings.
The tip and around to the flat is done, but from there back to the cut in at the choil still needs some work.
I finished the sngle edge bevels on both my Finnish and Swedish Puukkos, if indeed the Swedish one isn't a Lueku instead.
I am not sure what the difference between them are.
Anyone know?
I do know they are the absolute sharpest knives I have along with the little Spydie Moran I got over Turkey Day.
All of them will make excellent kardas and they will all fit in one scabbard or another on most of my bigger khukuri's, the thinner bladed Finland and Sweden knive's will fit in all but the smallest scabbards.

So how many of all y'all are doing this and how are all y'all coming along?

Yvsa,

The leukus I've seen generally have a wider profile blade (and handle) in comparison to the smaller, narrower puukkos.

You can get info at www.kellamknives.com

All the best,

Puukko is the finnish word for knife.Leuko is a larger knife traditionally used by the sami-people.A Lueko is made for better chopping abilities and is often carried together with a standard size knife,a puukko. The Mora standard knife, without handguard and with red woodhandle, would classify as a Puukko. Some Luekus has a smaller Puukko attached to the front of the scabbard.I've figured this out myself by looking at finnish-swedish sites.(It may not be 100% right)

Best regards
Daniel

A puukko has a clip blade and the handle is barrel-shaped with or without a pommel hook but it always swells in the middle. (Guards are not traditional; they've been added recently to some models to appeal to Americans.) A leuku has a straight spine and the blade is wider toward the point than near the handle, giving it a little extra belly. The handle swells toward the pommel end, not in the middle. (It's shaped like a karda handle.) Leukus are usually longer and heavier than puukkos but that's not definitive; there are small leukus and even a few fairly large puukkos.

That's my take on it, anyway. Maybe one of our Finnish members will come in and flame my pants off....
