How are you guys buying ESEE options?

So there are a boatload of sheath options out there...rather bewildering when you are used to standardization.

  • Everything has Kydex but maybe not the color you want. For example, I want to get the RC-3, orange and OD but the package deals I've seen (IIAC) have black or coyote sheaths...yet one can buy an OD RC03 Kydex stand alone.
  • MOLLE Locks.
  • MOLLE Back (MB). RC-6 nobody sell that as a package and you have to get it directly from ESEE (which is OK...just saying).
  • Boot Clip.
  • That steal belt clip thingie.

So my question is, are you guys buying "package deals" or buying bits and pieces? Obviously I might get a thing or two seperately but on the whole what are you all doing? It is kind of like buying a stereo was back in the 70's...each piece bought separately...or not? I guess where I am coming from is when I see the knives and/or packages there are sometimes choices for plain or serrated edges, occasionally colors, but never sheath options...as dropdown menu choices.

Here's my deal. Every year when I get a bonus (I am not in banking so it is not very big) I spend 15% on something fun. That is almost always a firearm. This year I am going all RAT (ESEE). RC-6, RC-3, and probably a HEST for EDC in by backpack that I take everywhere. Obviously it would be easiest to just do it all from one vendor. There do not seem to be significant price variations from the various vendors and all of them come highly recommended. There is some variation is what Package deals they offer. So any way, I will be able to get 3 really nice knives for less that what I usually spend on a gun (anybody priced a new HK P30 lately:eek:) and still get that post bonus buzz going with cash left over.

well some of us are getting custom sheaths made after the fact, there are a multitude of options that way.

made a few custom sheaths for mine, and bought a couple of the molle backs and pouchs. can't beat those for the price and fit.

take it easy

Yea, most of the dealers we use are really good, so I never mind breaking up orders to get the parts I want. A few custom sheaths from one guy, A knife from another, a bunch of sheathing options direct from RAT. I also like having multiple sheaths per each knife, so the options work out well for me. I've got five diffrent setups for my rc6
