spending your REI dividend?

I just mine in the mail. I know I can't be the only co-op member on this board, so I am curious what kind of coolness everyone else is picking up. Of course, pics are a good idea.

Mine wasn't very large, but I put it (and the 20% coupon) towards a new pair of shoes for work that can do double duty in light hiking. Lowa Tempest Lo's

I wandered around REI for quite a while trying to decide what I needed. I ended up going the boring route and got a pair of shorts made by Kuhl. They seem really rugged and have some nicely placed pockets. With my meager dividend and the coupon I got them for less than half price :)

What are you getting?:D

I got about 20 bucks. My girlfriend was going to pay full price for a thermarest. Now she doesn't have to.

I dunno what I am doing yet, but I am glad I posted this thread because I just threw the coupon in the trash. :o Now I have it. To REI I go.

My wifey bought me a hat with part of ours. She was forcing my old hat into retirement. Im not allowed to wear it in public anymore. :(

Funny you mention this doug...I just asked my wife and she gave me a "how did you know?"...look. The dividend is $143.00 and my wife always gets it...:grumpy: Well, if she's happy than I'm happy...I guess:D

Mine was mostly boring stuff. I picked up a few more RITR notebooks. I needed them and they are cheaper there.

I got $158 back this year... it will be going towards a new pack. I'm thinking Osprey, something in the 60-70L range.

I'm this close to buying low cut Merrel hiking boots(?!) with rock hard Vibram soles. Dunno why they call them boots, they're more like angry, hard core tennis shoes.

Mine isnt that much. Gonna cruise through and I am sure I will find something. Maybe a new Leatherman or knife.

I loved my old Lowa Tempest Lows. Lasted me a long long time. It hurt me to retire them. Nowadays, I like a lighter shoe, so I picked up a pair of these today:

I'm not becuse I refuse to shop there.

I choose to not give my money to Anti gun, hunting, motorized recreation, groups. I think if most folks understood how REI supports wacked out groups, the less they would shop there !

M'kay, thanks! I live in California which is pretty much anti all that anyway, though I own guns. But they have cool, though pricey outdoors stuff.

Take your politics somewhere else. :thumbdn:

As an aside, do you have any proof to support your statement? Or just internet hearsay? From what I remember, the CEO is an avid hunter.

Just drop the subject or I'll lock the thread.

Merrell Moab Ventilators. They are awesome. I got 2 pairs for xmas - 1 standard and 1 goretex. It is much harder to pick one knife for TEOTWAWKI than 1 pair of shoes.
$80 well spent every time I need shoes in the future. Especially since you can usually get a 20% off coupon.

Oooh, I gots 18 smackers...Guess that = 3 packs stormproof matches :D :D :D

Mine is only about $20. It'll go nice with the 20% off, though.
Maybe a rope, or a device for self-belayed toproping so I can climb alone without, you know...dying.
