How are ZT/Hinderer Framelocks Regarded?

I picked up a ZT 550 2nd generation folder last week. It is the first really high end production folder I have had in a few years. Ever since I handled the 550 and 561, I knew I would buy one. To my eyes and hands, these knives are not far off from a Sebenza in quality. My guess is that Kai being such a larger company allows them to produce such nice knives at a much cheaper price than a smaller operation like Chris Reeve knives.

I'm not trying to say that the ZT are better than Sebenzas because they are not designed for the same uses. I see the the ZTs as heavy duty hard use knives while the Sebenzas are really fine precision cutting tools for hunters especially.

I've always thought of them as something to aspire to. Something I wouldn't spend that much on a knife. However, I just did. Got a ZT 0350. Love it! LOVE IT!

You know you're carrying something when this is in your pocket.

Love my 550. Such a beefy lock, and mine is insanely smooth. In regards to CRK, I sold off my Sebenza but still have my 550. I can understand all the love for CRK knives though, they are really nice, just not my cup of tea.

Back in the day before children, I had a few Sebenzas and an Mnandi. I thought they were great knives, but I can't see where they are better made than my 550.

I've handled the 0350, and it's nothing compared to the 0301 or the 0560. The titanium framelocks are amazing; if I had to get rid of all my knives but one, it would be a tie between the 0301 and the 0560. They are so high quality for such a reasonable price. The feeling of a custom without the custom pricetag. Personally, I'm not a fan of the 0550, mainly because I prefer flippers. But I owned one, and it was tougher than any of the ZT's I've ever had.

OP, if you are debating on whether to get one or not.... get one. You won't regret it.
