How Bad is the Nylon Sheath for the BK7?

I've heard many people say that the nylon sheath they get with their Ka-Bar Becker BK7 is loose fitting and unsecure. Is this true? Is it a deal stopper for this knife? I love kydex sheaths and might even eventually get one if I bought this knife, but I don't want a really bad sheath with it right when I get it.

It's functional, but nothing to rave about. It wiggles a bit in the sheath, so make sure if you get one that you use the snap. You will probably end up wanting aftermarket Kydex for it, to tell the truth. For me, this was NOT a deal-breaker. My bk-7 is one of my favorite knives by far.

Thanks for the reply! It's exactly what I wanted to know!

Are you going to carry it on your belt? I put my large fixed blades in my pack or strapped to the outside so the sheath doesn't matter that much to me. The Becker sheath is decent. ESEE knives come with better sheaths. Of course, the cost of their knives reflects the better sheath and the micarta scales. I've put the micarta scales on my Beckers and I'm happy with them like that. I don't need a sheath upgrade.

Just on my belt most of the time.

It does its job. It holds the blade securely but it does rattle a bit. Fix that by inserting a bit of chopped up inner tube or something and you're good to go. By no means is the sheath a deal breaker.
