I just bought an Emerson karambit. Up till now I've owned spydercos and used a sharpmaker. Not framilliar with sharpenig Emersons (cg). Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

For the kerambit you want an oval (best choice) or round stone. It's much easier to sharpen a curved blade free hand if you can. You just need to push a burr over to the back (flat) side and use a fine ceramic rod to lightly knock it off. Sharpen it again with fine ceramic stones to clean the edge up and strop it to finish it off.

Keeping the edge sharp with regular touch ups using a fine ceramic and stroping is the way to go IMO. It's much easier than having to actually sharpen the blade by removing material to get the edge back.

The Sharpmaker actually works well with a little practice. My Lagriffes are among my sharpest.
